An Unremarkable Announcement

(or Look What I Did)

So in my time-honoured tradition of doing completely random things, I now present to you something I’ve been working on for the past few weeks. It is my absurdist, urban fantasy, deconstructionist novelette. It’s about a superhero who’s only power is he doesn’t have any powers. Well, that’s not entirely true. His power is regression to the mean, which basically is the tendency for extreme events to average out over time. So basically, nothing ever happens to him. If you thought you couldn’t write a story where nothing ever happens to the lead character, so did I.

I therefore had to try. And I have managed to put almost 9600 words down about nothing. This is still a rough second draft of a work-in-progress, so I would appreciate any feedback you can give. Even if it’s just to say how great I am. Or I suck. Just don’t be indifferent because people who give an opinion without actually having one are missing the point of having a brain.

Because it’s so long, I plan to break it up into about a dozen different posts and serialize it over the next few days. This is partly to honour the works of people like Alex Raymond (Flash Gordon) and Charles Dickens, who had their work serialized in the medium of their day. But mostly so I don’t have write anything to post for a couple of weeks, and I can get some actual work done. (Like cleaning up the categories and tags on this blog. Sheesh, what a mess.)

Don’t worry though. I’m not going to put everything I write into this blog, just this one. I will publish first chapters and maybe the odd short story, but I am making a separate blog for all of my writing writing at Unlikely Realm You can read it as it publishes or you can wait until the end and read it all at once it’s up to you. So sit back and enjoy or just ignore me like you usually do, and things will be back to abnormal soon.

Also, it’s a tragic romance. (I am a marketer’s worst nightmare.)
